Outlaw Trail, Inc. Rules and Regulations

All participants will be under the supervision of the Trail Boss and Group Leaders. This is the only group that has authority to rescind these rules and regulations.

All participants must be registered to join the Trail Ride.

All participants are expected to be on the ride from day one to finish.

No one under the age of 18 will be permitted on the Trail Ride without a parent or guardian present. Parents should use discretion when including children less than 10 years of age. Seven days of continuous riding is a strain for most children’s stamina and maturity level. Children are the direct responsibility of their parent or guardian.

Name badges and scarves (each group has their own color) will be issued at registration and need to be worn to all events and on the ride. This is your ticket to the special events that have been arranged for the ride.

The riders are divided into groups of 20-25 riders. Each group will be under the supervision of group leaders. The group leaders are responsible for the actions of their group. All riders are to stay in their assigned group.

No stallions, mares with colts, dogs or other household pets will be permitted on the trail Ride. It is the owner’s discretion of the age of the horse to be ridden, but it is the committee’s recommendation that the horse’s maturity and durability be strongly considered. We are climbing up and down mountains and cover rough terrain with elevations changing from 4200 to 9000 feet.

No loose horses will be permitted on the trail. All horses must be tied at night. You are responsible for bringing halters and lead ropes with snap fasteners for your horse. Evening tie down will be established by colored picket lines. Occasionally a horse may be moved from a picket line by the ground crew if it does not get along with its neighbors.

Horses left behind at abandoned campsites are the responsibility of the owner.

Each rider is responsible for feeding and watering their horse daily. Plenty of hay will be available and near your picket line each night. The grain will be in the horse trailer each night. Please be liberal but not wasteful. Past experience has demonstrated that well fed horses have fewer tendencies to quarrel with their neighbors at night.

No "horseplay" that could create a dangerous situation for the Trail Ride will be tolerated. Abuse of animals, profanity, reckless behavior or refusal to abide by the rules will result in dismissal.

Bright colored ribbons must be worn on the tail of all "kickers". Ribbons will be provided. Riders with green horses must alert their group leaders.

Appropriate footwear, dress, manners, language, and horsemanship are required of all participants.

People are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. All trash must be carried to proper receptacles. This is very important to other members of the group and especially to our hosting counties and landowners.

There is absolutely no smoking while in the saddle. In camp use extra care when smoking and be sure to extinguish all cigarettes and carry off your butts. Suggestion: Bring an old Altoids can to dispose of the butts.

There will be no alcohol consumption while in the saddle.

Cellular telephones are not permitted while in the saddle. You may use them at camp.

Parties will maintain a reasonably quiet camp after 10:30 p.m.

The only motorized vehicles following the Trail Ride are official emergency and support vehicles. These are the only vehicles allowed in camp. No unauthorized motorized vehicles, R.V.s, campers, etc. will be permitted in the camp area.

Leave rattlesnakes alone. Get a group leader or ground crew to take care of it.

No firearms or fireworks will be allowed on the Trail Ride.

Be courteous and thankful to private landowners, we are their guests. They have made the trail ride possible.

Medical Staff, Veterinary Staff, and Farrier will be available on the Trail Ride. Their decisions are final.

Safety is the object of most of these rules. Decent animal treatment and good citizenship are none-the-less expected.
